I just bought a garter snake that the pet store was calling an Indonesian garter snake. I've never heard of one. If anyone has info on these, I'd appreciate it.
Thanks.

There is no such things as indonesian garter snakes. Garter snakes are strictly north American colubrids [mostly confined to the US, but with some species ranging into Canada and Mexico]. If you could post a picture or described the snake, maybe it can be identified.
Hi,
xenochrophis vittatus is often called indonesian garter snake. Try to get a pic with google and have a look if it´s the same animal that you´ve bought at the petstore.
Good luck

Thanks for the info. I found a site with pics and a little bit of info on the so called Indonesian garter snake. It's really a striped Keelback snake from Sumatra, Java and Sulawesi. I'm quite sure it's wild caught, based on some scarring, and imported, so goodness only knows how old it really is. It's just the calmest, neatest snake that likes to chill out in its water dish with the fishies.
