i used to work at a zoo, and we used simple green on all of the indoor enclosures for our critters. it's been working really well, and smells pretty good, but i dont know if it dis-infects. is there anything better that i could be useing?
Welcome to kingsnake.com's message board system. Here you may share and discuss information with others about your favorite reptile and amphibian related topics such as care and feeding, caging requirements, permits and licenses, and more. Launched in 1997, the kingsnake.com message board system is one of the oldest and largest systems on the internet.

You might check some of the veterinary supply catalogs, like New England Syrum Company for good, safe disinfectants like Roccal D plus (which is what we use as a disinfectant at our clinic)...or you might try Nasco for disinfectants too. They have a website at www.enasco.com.
I get their farm and ranch catalog which has disinfectants for milking parlors and the like, but I don't know if those are okay to use around ig's or not.
If not, I use a good (and inexpensive) standard: liquid bleach diluted in hot water mixed with a little Dawn dish soap. Just scrub everything down, rinse it completely with clean water, and dry it off.
Hope this helps.
