Gold Dust Gecko Shipping question

TheGreenMan Jul 16, 2005 09:50 PM

Time for another question.
I am going to get a 1.1 gold dust day gecko group shipped to me this week. The guy I am buying them off of said that the female may have eggs!
My question is: Could shipping cause her to get egg bound? Is there anything I can do to lower the chances? Thanks all.

LOL...I usually get pissed off when I buy and receive a female carrying eggs...bastard geckos! te he he

Anyways, if that's what you meant, from what I've seen, egg-binding seems to be typically caused by bad husbandry...(hmm...yes, that's a nastily broad category that I won't venture into) In my experience, dystocia's not that common of an issue w/people who know what they're doing....but maybe I've been lucky.?

As long as you ship same day, with proper heat/cool packs configured by someone who knows what they're doing, etc. and the G.D. Day is healthy and happy, the shipping shouldn't cause enough stress to cause egg binding. I know high stress can lead to that but w/shipping alone, that would definitely be a first! -- How far are the pair travelling? As long as you're at the door when UPS/whatever drops them off, I think she'll be chill.

Ah... I'd love to see pictures! G.D.'s are neat -- and I hope its your new male that knocked her up
