What I have been hoping for...... Dial up Warning....

sojourner Jul 16, 2005 10:26 PM

As it turns out my high contrast "normal" has blessed us with some more unusually colored babies again this year. This time with a completely different sire. Last year the father was an orange-tail dh ghost, while this year it was a red group salmon hypo. For now I believe whatever it is she has going on to be an inheritable color phase, but I would not go so far as to call it a true morph. I am going to have to do a number of more breedings to know for sure. I am hypothesizing(guessing) that it is an incomplete dominant trait, as it seems to have had much more influence over the orange-tail hypo trait than the salmon trait.

The EBV red group influence is undeniable throughout the litter, in the hypos and normals alike. Here are some pics of 1.3 hypos that are showing varying degrees of the pale, reduced red base color....

Here is a little boy....

Here is the first of three lovely little ladies....

Another....

And last for now, but definitely not least......

What do you think?

I need to come up with a name for this girl. One day Caesar, our keeper white hypo male from our litter last year's litter, will get a chance with this girl in an attempt to make some f2's....

Enjoy!

Whatever is going on with the Mom.........she produces KNOCKOUT BABIES! Each one is exquisite in it's own way...and those last two little ones have wonderful eye coloring as well. I am such a sucker for those soft, delicate colors!! They look like little "serpent" flowers sitting on those leaves and moss

Congratulations! I don't know which is prettier, the babies or your beautiful pictures!

You can really see the Red Group influence as well as the unique coloration that your female adds. Excellent pairing resulting in another litter of gorgeous babies!
