I'm personally not a fan of slide racks for venomous snakes. I just think that front sliding or door opening cages are more safe. The only time I've seen slide cages in use for large scale venomous operations was at the Serpent's Den in PA. Steve was nice enough to show me around a few years ago. His slide cages were big enough that the bins could be inserted with the lid ON. This way, you can lid the snake in the rubbermaid before inserting it back into the rack. This operation seemed to work very well.
For nonvenomous snakes (or rear fanged like false water cobra and cat eyed snakes), I've always just built my own out of MDF. It is a little cheaper than melnamine (spelling?) but it really shouldn't get wet and can't be sanitized as easily (if at all). I make sure my snakes stay in the same slot the entire time I've got them.
I've also got a boaphile cage. It's a little flimsy, but the heat is built into the back, which is convenient. Sometimes the drawers do not go back in easily because of sag at the center.
