Some may not like this topic!! But I'm curious...

I am a avid fisherman, and I fish for catfish ALOT. Ocassionally I catch a softshell when using live bait and cut bait. I have caught four this year all snagged by the front foot. So I am wondering, is this just weird luck or are these turtles holding the bait with there feet? For those that keep turtles do they hold their food while they eat it?

P.S. I always release turtles when I catch them.

Well see, if the food object is too big to be swallowed in on or two gulps they will hold it in their mouth and use their claws to rip it into smaller pieces. All turtles to this.
