Baby Spiders from my first clutch, ever!

BitByTheSpider Jul 17, 2005 02:45 PM

Thought I'd share a few pics of a couple Spider babies produced from my very first clutch, ever.

These little beauties hatched out on 7/12. One weighed 67 grams, the other (last pic) weighed 62 grams. Both appear to be female, but that could be due to a lack of popping experience. I'm reluctant to probe when their this size. Both are starting to go into shed.

These beautiful babies were from pairing a 500 gram male Spider (courtesy of Bryan Kollwitz of Exotic Ball Pythons) to a 1500 gram normal female. When I bought my male from Bryan he was 410 grams. Bryan stated his father bred at 500 grams and expected I could get mine up to breeding size within a month or two. Bryan wasn't kidding. My male got up to 500 grams within a month, then bred 32 times for me!

I have two more normal females who also appear gravid. One should drop around July 23. The other is ovulating now and hasn't had her pre-lay shed -- I'm thinking she'll probably drop late August / early September.

They are the neatest little snakes.

Thanks for looking.
