I have a question-orange stripe on juvenile iguana's back

A_pissed_iguana Jul 17, 2005 04:07 PM

My iguana Nemo is around 6 inches (SVL) and he has developed an orange stripe along his lower back near his back legs. I cannot take a picture because my camera is currently unavailable. I wish that i could describe with more detail but i cannot think of any other way to describe it. It happened today when i got him out of his cage he had the stripe. I have no clue what it is. I have heard that males turn orange during mating season. But he is no where near old enough to mate and i don't even think it is breeding season. If you have any iformation please reply!! Thank you!

Are the scales/skin intact? Shiny, not dull or burned?

It may just be his 'color morph'. Some young iguanas have white stripings or colorings. (By the way, you're sure it's an iguana, and not an Asian water dragon... right?).

Too bad, a picture could really help.
