Can anyone help me out ?...

Robert Haase Jul 17, 2005 05:46 PM

...and I know this is probably the wrong venue for this request post and I hope Joe forgives me because I'm not trying to take advantage of the forum. I never ask for much and some guys out there have found that I been been generous with them in the past, so I'm asking for some help to get a wc female L. t. celaenops from just west of Sanderson, Terrell County TX on US Hwy 90. It'll be a long time before I can get out that way again. Anybody? Any help will be sincerely appreciated.

I've got an adult female from 5 miles East that I've been trying to pair up since '96. If you can't get one from closer, I'd be interested in a breeding loan. How far west was your male?

Robert Haase Jul 18, 2005 03:39 PM

He's from 3 miles west at the long cut.

We should get together on a breeding project if we can't find closer matches. My female was a juvie when I caught her in 96' but she ain't getting any younger. 8 miles is a bit of a stretch although the genes flow continuously through that entire stretch I'm sure. Let me know what you'd like to do.

Dave,
Thanks for your offer. Sorry it's taken me this long to respond to you. The problem is that the male I have is still immature. He's only about 12" long. Plus, I really want to get a young female to go with him, since I'm pretty bummed with alterna at this point and don't keep many snakes at all but i do enjoy celaenops.

Best,
Bob

Dave,

One of the males I collected in 2002 was from the five mile cut east of town. Had I sent it to you on a breeding loan instead of the person I did send it to, 1) it would have sired 3 clutches by now, and 2) it would still be alive! I collected a nicer looking male IMO with a generous splash of red on its head on HWY 349 about 10 miles north of Dryden. Talk about a long stretch and a celaenops I'm unlikely to pair up - you're welcome to this Terrell county male anytime you want it - on loan of course, should Bob decide not to take you up on your offer.

I'd be very interested in a breeding loan...at least we could make pure Terrell County milks, right? I'm tired of looking at this beautiful healthy adult female and not being able to breed her. Bob doesn't seem interested in breeding his male, although I suspect his is a little closer as the crow flies. Let's get together on this...
