There are 9 hatchlings that were offered food tongiht for the first time and all 9 ate. Gosh I wish all thayeri were this easy. I swear this line of thayeri eat without hesitation. Ther are some really nice ones in the three clutches I have so far. I think I'll only keep just 1 holdback

Your holding back the 1st one in this group?????
I've never had all of my thayeri babies feed the first time. I think those St Agustine mice are freak mice, 1/2 mouse 1/2 lizard LOL

I think you and I have the same preference Chris....I like that one the most as well.....If it were a female I, myself would hold on to it to see if it holds the clean color.......Then pair it up with a nice male when it reaches breeding size.....

The pinks I get are to big to feed a whole one to a hatchling so I cut them half and feed 10 snakes off of 5 pinks. As the snake matures it eventually eats a whole pink. If I could raise my own mice it would be a no brainer to feed them a whole day old pink. If you've never tried this, I recommend it. I start out all of my snake hatchlings in this manner. I don't have a choice.

Actually the keeper is not in this group of photos

I like the first one in this group too, nice looking Thayeri.

Wow, nine out of nine ate right away......?........thats awsome, where do you get your mice from?...lol.........mike

well I get them from St Augustine, Florida

Yeah I'm pretty stoked. Do you normally have that many to eat the first time offered? The clutch was actually 13 it's just these are the first 9 to shed.

I may have to stop by St. Augustine after the Daytona show and pick some of those up.....LOL
I have never had every snake from one clutch eat readily. There has been always been at least a couple that were stubborn.
I did in fact have a clutch of 13 hatch out in 2002. Only 2 of these were reluctant feeders, but they finally started eating mice after some lizard meals......
I have tons of methods for reluctant feeders, but I don't know ifI will go through all of them this year. I may go straight to a cooling period with them.....
