Here's five and six. Five was my favorite out of the clutch.

Here's my new favorite, number seven. The photo doesn't really show it, but she is very, very red. Can you tell I like the ones with the least amount of black? Not sure why, I like them all though. I'm calling them all females for now. I'll actually check after the first shed, it's just wishfull thinking for now. Number eight is a suprise, I thought the egg had died back because of some mold on one end were the infertile eggs were, it looks kind of Geeri ish (sorry the pic sucks).

yes they look great. All orange, you can't be that!
Russ
Lots of orange. What do the parents look like?...thanks, mike
Thanks. It's too bad the pictures are so bad, not sure what went wrong. The parents are pictured in the thread below "1st one out" (last post).
Very nice Rick. By the way, who's stock/lineage are they from? Thanks.

Jonel,
A good friend and I bought our Thayeri from Dr. Mark Wolfson (Wolfenson?) in Tucson. The first ones we bought at the 2002 San Diego IRBA show. I only bought a pair but decided I liked them so much I drove to Tucson to hand pick some of the hold backs Mark was letting go. That’s how I got the mother of these, she looked very similar to baby number 7 and was a 2001. Mark had either 6 or 12 pairs of Thayeri (I’m old and can’t remember which it is now); his original stock came from a variety of sources. The main stock is Vivid but there is also some snakes from Dan Vermilya, and a couple other breeders who’s names escape me (remember I’m old) but I have seen people talking of them on this forum. On a side note, Mark also pairs a Leonis phase to a Milksnake phase in all his pairings. I think this gives a good mix and some of the “in betweens” are awesome. So to make a long story short; they are a mix of foundation stock based mostly on Vivid. I had Thayeri back in the mid 90’s but sold them to concentrate on Rosy Boa’s (my first herp love/sickness). It is easy to overlook all the work these “foundation” breeders have done developing the bright colors we now enjoy in the Thayeri compared to what was available 10-12 years ago.
I'm glad you posted on this subject. I'm always interested in where other's stock comes from. IMHO diversity is good and the milk snake phase matchup with leonis is an excellent idea too. I've got stock from Applegate, Vivid (Gebhard), Vermilya, Bodner, Weymouth, Torres, Caldwell, and Slack. I love mixing up those genes. I'm still mulling over which snakes to match up for next year.
You've got a great looking batch of thayeri there Rick. Congrats on them.
Vichris
Isn't this fun?
I, myself have Vivid, Vermilya, Evan Stahl, Bodner, MPJ Exotics, Kims' Kolubrids, Sunbaked Serpents and some others....
Man...I need some Jonel Lopez, Chris Garcia, Russ Bates, Rick M., Mike K., Robert Hansen and others now.....
Diversity and Variability is what makes these so fun.....I can never see myself not breeding thayeri. Or Mexicana for that matter.
I may indulge myself in kingsnake, Pituophis, Hondurensis and Corn morph breeding, but that is just because I like variability.......
Will this addiction ever stop..... I gotta have more.....LOL

I would have more of them if other projects didn't take up so much room. They are very cool snakes, not too big, fairly mellow, and tons of variety. Space will be at a premium this year though (the good lord willing). I can't wait for the Milksnake female's clutch to hatch. If I get a female like the 2004 dude below I will keep her (Orange Leonis male x Milksnake female). He was my favorite last year, over a few awesome orange ones too. Maybe a trade for a female like him. Time will tell.

Nice holdback Rick....I love the saddles and the light ground color.
I seem to have began to like these keyhole saddled thayeri a lot myself...It used to be the orange leonis. I produced lots of those in a three year period, but this little girl was my only keeper from last year.

She was a stubborn feeder but a cool down this winter got her going finally...thank heaven!
Very Nice Rick!
Amazing beautiful and consistantly orange babies in that clutch.
Congrats,
Uncloudy
Man, those are all beauties!
I'll take any of those extra females you want to part with!
(Hint hint)!
Good job!
Mike
Nice orange leonis thayeri.....Jealousy is setting in....LOL
I got about 1 more week (8 more days until day 60).
Great looking parents as well.
Congratulations,
John Lassiter
Here are some of my orange ones from 2003.....Both holdbacks....LOL
