Sexing ???

digital_reptiles Jul 18, 2005 12:08 AM

I have a 3'-4' aru and I want to get 1.1 or 0.2 more depending on its sex. Ive read alot that GTP's shouldnt be probed, so whats the best way to go about sexing it? Can you make an educated guess based on the tail and spur size as with other pythons (i know its never 100%).

Any help is appreciated.

It is ok to probe adult green tree pythons. The common practice is to not probe anything under 1 year of age because of the delicacy of the spine. Probing anything under 1 year of age could cause spinal kinks, etc. Some snakes grow slower than others so this should be on a case by case basis too. Hope that helps!
