Agressive blue tongue skink

vincenzoo Jul 18, 2005 06:15 AM

Hello!
I have a Tiliqua gigas gigas adult female. But it's very agressive, because the last owner have put it in with a couple, the other female had not accept the new female and bite it. Since it is very agressive and the last owner give it to me. But this blue tongue was badly kept, there's a lot of shed staying on the body. I put it in the water every days, but it's so agressice that it's very difficult to catch it! Is anyone have a agressive blue tongue like that and have a method to make it calm and quite? Do you think that it's possible (when it will be healthy) to breed this kind of female?
Thanks
(excuse me for english mitsakes but I'm french)

Your skink is most likely Wild caught and may never tame down.

Well, i am currently keeping a MALE Tiliqua gigas gigas, wich i got from the store as a subadult (wich makes it very likeliy to be a wild caught one). He was always bluffing (hissing, opening the mouth, a little trashing around), but never really bit me at all. He's like a "little monster" when you try to pick him up (it only comes natural, since anything grabbing him may want him 4 breakfest/lunch/dinner, hehe), but after he's in your hands, he'll calm down, and even seem to relax. So, practice frequent, short handling sessions, and also offer your pet the occasional treat (after i handle him, i usually feed him in a sepperate tub). Also, you may want to use a glove to minimize pain if she does bite/scratch (>.
