taxonomy clarification

gila7150 Jul 18, 2005 09:28 AM

I must be out of the loop because the Drymarchon taxonomy changes mentioned in some recent threads are the first I've heard of it.

I just wanted to clarify that the following are now the accepted taxonomy...

Drymarchon melanurus melanurus - BT Cribo
Drymarchon melanurus unicolor - Unicolor Cribo
Drymarchon melanurus erebennus - Texas Indigo
Drymarchon melanurus rubidus - Red Tail Cribo
Drymarchon melanurus corais - YT Cribo

So is the eastern indigo now just Drymarchon corais or Drymarchon couperi?

But stay tuned. Anyway, an eastern by any other name is just as cool!
