I'm really excited about hatching out some gophers. I guess if the pit gods are really with me this summer I'll get a fertile clutch of hybino sonorans het for blizzard that I purchased this summer. They showed up mating The female is gravid and has already shed so she should be laying soon.

It's always fun the first time you breeding a certain speices for the first time.

Yes,you heard me right.I have had this pair of snakes for years and out of several breedings once in a while I will get a normal here or there.Well,This year out of 10 eggs I got four normals and 6 albinos?Go figure?

Shannon,
How in the heck does that happen? Is it two strains of albinism at work? That is super wierd and I hope it doesn't happen to me. Are you going to Daytona this year? Steve Little is suppose to fly out and we're going to hit the show together...maybe we'll see you there.

Russ,I am not real sure why?I have talked to Bob about it and hes not sure either? He said he did go out and collect some wild females were the albino male was found so one of them may have been carrying a weird gene and its just being masked but does get in the way from time to time?He said he sold a pair to a friend in germany way back when and the same thing happend and he didn't believe it?but now he does because of my account. This is accually the seventh year that I have bred this pair of snakes and the fourth time that I have gotten normals but I had never gotten more than two before.

I will be in Daytona on thursday evening,Jason and I will be flying in from Salt Lake to Tear it up Pit style all weekend so we will hook up for sure.I hope stever can make it cause I like hanging out with his hippy a$$ he's cool.He will be helping me at My table in Anaheim in September.

Steve Little is the nicest guy you could ever hope to meet on the street. He'd give you his last dime, the shirt off his back, and sing you a song while doing it. It'll definately be fun.

Shannon,

The breeder I purchased my male adult Applegate gopher from had the same thing happen. His normals were very much better looking than other ones I have seen. How are those?

They had a discussion similar to this a couple of weeks ago on the garter forum. I can't give you all the specifics but it has to do with dominant and recessive genes, codominant genes and the way they interact.
