I have an adult pair that I witnessed locked up in early march and no babies or swelling yet. Can anyone tell me whats going on? They both are of age and size and its they first time breeding, the female shed twice but thats about it I expected to see some babies since they where indeed breeding.

Breeding does not guarantee babies. The female has to ovulate. There are lots of reasons why females don't ovulate. Age, weight and size, general health, seasonality (meaning March may have been late for her cycle), number of breedings are all possibilities. Put some weight on her and try again this year.

Males can work a female until the cows come home, and copulate with them repeatedly, but they do not have what it takes to get the the girls to ovulate, which is what will have to happen before she has some babies. I went through the same thing you are going through with one of our pairs this past season. I will try again this year with a different male and we will see what happens.

Any more specific details you can share, can help us all help you figure out what could be going on. Good luck!
