Not mexican Black patterned black
?????
That sure looks like a baby Mexican Black Kingsnake (L.g.nigrita) baby to me. It isn't an Eastern Black King (L.g.nigra)

Chris Harrison

If so, which other??

We are familiar with the fact that there are Mexican Black Kings (l. getula nigrita) from Mexico and extreme southern AZ, and Eastern Black Kings (l. getula nigra) from southern Ohio, KY, TN, AL. We are just asking you to clarify which one you have. Some Mexican Black kings have a faint pattern that sometimes disappears as they age. Yours kind of looks like a Mex black with that faint pattern.
Eastern blacks are more variable. Some have strong patterns and others have almost none. Can we assume from your comments that your snake is a Eastern Balck Kingsnake?
Greg
Yes Greg We can assume that the second picture is a Mexican Black Kingsnake and the first Picture is a Black King Snake. Are you guys always so formal...I thought this was fun not school....been outta that for 37 years now. Oh well. I'll know better from now on.
