Keeping Saharans uromastyx together...

kimax Jul 18, 2005 07:20 PM

I have one male saharan that is 2 yrs old in a 70 gallon tank and was wondering if it would be possible to add another, either male or female. Do males fight? I havent been able to find any info on keeping this species together. Any help would be great! Thanks.

Absolutely do NOT add another male. I haven't had problems with males of females fighting females, but males seem to activate each other on contact. Either way, you'll need to quarantine new animals and observe them for specific hostilities between individuals.

My Saharan male and female do great together. As stated above, male male = disaster, and an extended quarantine is needed before you introduce them.

I was pretty sure males could not be kept together, but it is good to know that some females can or cannot. Thanks to everyone who replied!
