Here is that snake that is causing all the commotion (PIC)

At a certain point everyones bickering gets so involved that the only people interested in reading it are the ones posting.

Anyway here is the result of a hyperethristic "Blaze" goini crossed to a hypomelanistic brooksi. This snake is double het hyperethristic X hypomelanistic. Its young will have a red stripes with neon yellow sides and it will have lightening bolts shooting out of its cloaca.

crazy, just crazy.
i am neither plus or minus on this project. it is very intriguing that this offspring does not show hypomelanism, but it is only one offspring. did others hatch? playing the numbers game it is possible that IF (and ONLY IF) the parents of this animal were goini x hypo brooksi (and thus het hypo) MOST of the offspring would not show the hypo trait (if my mental punnett square is right, probability is 25% normal 50% normal phenotype with het genotype and 25% hypo). so i think you need numbers. maybe do this breeding again, offspring to offspring and/or parent to offspring, some of the standard tests to show inheritance. that would go miles and miles to squelch the idea flames originate from hypo brooksi. i hope you can prove it pure.

The rest are still in the egg:

Sean Jul 19, 2005 10:24 AM

LOL, Rainer, only your first one looked normal. The rest look Blaze to me. Here's one of ZFelicien's Blaze and I'm sorry but the rest of your offspring look identical in coloration/high amounts of red.

Tony D Jul 19, 2005 11:45 AM

however:

1) blaze does not = red. That is a perception only because they arose out of a high red line.

2) your original accusation was that blaze were the result of a goini x hypo brooks cross. Clearly these are not hypo as they would be if you were correct.

ZFelicien Jul 19, 2005 10:51 AM

hey Rainer I've been emailing you... are you not getting them... i wanna get my lavender hatchling before you go to Daytona... got some other things to discuss with you as well... please email me

Now those are some really nice hatchling... and i really won't agree with sean that they look like my Blaze phase the are black and red yes... my female is orange and red (a ruby red)...the darkest thing on her is her head...

again PLEASE email me

Thanx
