whats the best SULCATA substrate????

kaliking11 Jul 19, 2005 12:16 AM

i have a sulcata tortoise in a 30gal. tank ( only for the moment) and i was wondering what substrate would be best for it? something she can dig through yet solid enough for her not to sink in it like sand. something like dirt, but im not sure if its safe for me to go out in the back yard and get a pile of dirt and put it in her cage? any suggestions?

Rabbit pellets or alfalfa hay is great. There are other types of hay that are good as well.
