Snake N Eggs!

kingsnaken Jul 19, 2005 04:31 PM

This is my first attempt at breeding. She laid 6 eggs, and 1 might be a slug. I bred 2 corns on June 9 and the eggs were laid today. I didn't think she was getting fat, so I thought she wasn't gravid. I picked her up Saturday night, and I could feel lumps in her belly, and she stopped eating. I did not have enough time to order a nice incubator, so I made one from instructions from the internet. So far so good, but we'll see. Derek

It doesn't take anything special. Corns are a very easy species to deal with. I stopped feeding and turned off their heat for 2 months. Thsi is supposed to induce breeding. It was convenient because I was on travel the whole time, and my wife and kids took care of all of my snakes while I was gone. As a matter of fact, my female was a product of a male and female that were kept together. They bred without them even trying or doing anything, so they had a bunch of eggs to deal with. My female only had 6 eggs, but they usually have more. She must be on the small side. I bought Kathy Love's Cornsnake book that is full of really good info. I recommend it for anybody having cornsnakes. Good Luck, Derek
