Check with Troy at Frantzherp.com. He usually has an excellent selection of captive bred babies of most localities. All the ones I have bought from him have had no problems and eat like pigs. Definately check him out.

This may be the case, but I'm 99.99% sure Frantz's chondros are imports. Straight from the BUSH. Go with a breeder and you can't go wrong.

MegF Jul 21, 2005 09:08 PM

Not according to Troy. He said his are either bred by him, or from a local breeder he gets them from. He certificates his animals, and although that can mean nothing, my snake has been exactly as promised. Eating well on f/t small mice, healthy, and just shed. She also has the excellent temperament he said she did. I can't complain.

yea, that local breeder is bushmaster, and yes they are farm raised imports.i also bought one of these bushmaster farm animals and i havenever owned a better animal.farm raised animals are a far cry from parasite ridden wild caught animals, but many will be happy to put them in the same catagory .

I agree with going with a breeder, you can't go wrong, but as far as Frantzherp goes the only imports he offers are adult meraukes. If you look on his website you will see aru/biak crosses, sorongs, arus, etc. He has excellent captive bred babies of most locale types and crosses, plus his prices are reasonable for baby green trees. So if you think he sells nothing but imports check out his site or call him and you will see otherwise. Here is a pic of a female lereh I bought from him. Oh by the way I am not trying to blow smoke for someone, I am just stating what I know from personal experience.

I have two chondros from Troy at Frantzherp, and both arrived promptly, fed on their first night in their enclosures, shed perfectly, had perfect fecal examinations...I am a firm believer in a man's word, and Troy assured me that they were captive bred, and even if they were not, they are still two of the best feeding healthy snakes in my collection. I wouldnt hesitate to drop him a line if I were you.

MegF Jul 22, 2005 07:37 AM

I checked out Troy on the B.O.I. before I purchased from him and all the comments I could find were positive ones. He answered all questions I put to him, and the thousand others before my new kid arrived as well! He has sent me a certificate stating my Sarong type is CB and yes, he could lie, but I didn't get that impression. She was exactly as advertised, and shipped promptly and in good condition. I would do business with him again in a second! I spent all last night, just sitting watching my girl cruise her viv! She is.....well, awesome! Can't wait to see the color change!

I just wanted to say I love that lereh! I didn't know they could get that much blue, mine is just green with some yellow freckles on his back and yellow sides. Your female is very pretty IMO!!

atilla138 Jul 22, 2005 10:59 PM

I am glad you like her and yes she has a lot of blue with some black. She also has a lot of yellow on her sides that can't be seen in the photo. Her temperment is something horrifying but I can work around that. Next spring I plan on breeding her with a male that has even more blue and yellow than she does. Anyway I will try to post more pics soon and thanks for the kind words.

Then answer this: "why is it that folks (I'll refer to them as Brokers) tend to ALL have the same types of animals all out and available at the same time? For example, Aru X Biaks...Sorongs....jayas etc....Is this because everyone has their clutches synchronized to hatch together at the same time? and with the same locality types? and are all established at the same time? Come on....it's because they all arrive in the States and the brokers then hurry in line to obtain them.

Your questions basically answer themselves and I apologize beforehand if my response seems aggresive. That is not my intention at all, but it is easy to misconstrue a response because it sounds negative. People make assumptions because they don't know for themselves. All I did was make a recomendation from personal experience and people have replied expressing their concerns with wild caughts. If you don't know go to the source and find out for yourself. In the end a good guality chondro is a good quality chondro regardless of captive bred or import.

Frantzherps Jul 23, 2005 04:46 PM

I just wanted to chime in for the first time on Kingsnake GTP forums and say thanks to all those that provided kind words on my behalf. While I'm not going to come on here and defend myself against those making libelous claims about my company, I will ask each and every one of you to always consider the source. Nine out of ten times those that attempt to sully my companies good name, albeit unsuccessfully, are my competitors. Every year I have hundreds and hundreds of satisfied chondro customers (many repeat customers) because they realize I offer a high-quality CB animal, at a fair price, and give them the post-sale support they need to ensure success with their new investment.

Happy herping friends!

Thanks for that Troy! I will say I am more than satisfied and that I did inded get what I paid for....a quality animal with good temperament, who eats like a pig and looks great! I also got someone who is available to answer my questions and is never rude about it....even when asked a million and one of them
