I usually try to allow any new acquisition time to "de-stress" in it's new housing for a couple days before feeding it. It's naturally going to move around exploring it's new digs, as such, it shouldn't likely do so when newly fed.
I think by feeding so soon after receipt you are risking regurgitation problems.

On the flip side problem feeders often feed right after a long trip. While you are right that feeding a snake after travel can be harmful it can also be used to start otherwise difficult feeders. Alterna for example are started this way by the more experience breeders. It helps get around force feeding. So don't be to closed minded about it.
I have bought nonfeeders at shows for super cheap and had them feeding the minute I got home. They have gone on to being great animals.

I have never had a snake regurge from feeding too soon after arrival.
FYI, most regurge problems are from oversized food items and wrong temp. in enclosure.
I know your getting treatment through Snake-In-Hand Feeding Anonymous and are a grateful habitual replaser.
hehehe
Anyhow, great new arrival and get more mexicanas!
