The bigger the better, well that is my opinion anyway. I have one female in a 3 foot boaphile cage which has 6 square feet of floor space. I have the male in a 50 something quart container that looks to have close to about 4 square foot of floorspace. The males is taller than most people think is neccesary but he seems less stressed than when in a long type that is not as wide or tall. He has a massive feeding response and it would be tough to drop food in the smaller type without him charging out. I have many younger ones approaching three and a half to four foot long in 27 quarts and others a bit larger. Next year I want to upgrade them to larger cages for sure. I know many people introduce the female into the males cages for breeding. I do the opposite. I like the larger cage for the female so when the nest box is in the cage there's still a lot of room for her hide and water bowl. The male spends a fair amount of time in the larger cage with her for a little extra room to stretch. I try to use this system for all the types of snakes I keep, and though it still needs some fine tuning all in all I am happy with it.

Tom,
Thanks. I have a 30qt. plastic sweaterbox rack unit and my 40"+ white-phase male seems to be cramped. Do you know anyone that carries larger sweaterboxes so I can build a rack unit to fit them?
Thanks.

I have some Sterilite containers that are 41 qt. They're 34x16x6. The lids are not worth caca unless they're taped down but in a rack they work OK. The larger container I mentioned is not stiff/sturdy enough to tightly wedge into a rack...and has 6 rounded bulbs on the bottom that will also possibly make things more difficult. I think it may have been Brandon Osborne that told me he bought the longest widest ones he could find that actually had wheels underneath for some of his huge colubrids and they worked OK. I hate paying the price of them, but I love the Boaphile cages. The racks are too freaking expensive for adults, but the cages rock. I wish I had 40 of em! But I can only afford 4 LOL. The reason I love them and similar types of caging is the fact you can stack them and the open from the front and not the top. I saw an ad recently, I believe it was for Vision caging and they have a new rack coming out that is actually adjustable. I am looking into that for sure, it supposedly can hold any brand of container. Hope this helps

Tom,
Thanks a bunch. those cages sound cool but a bit too pricey for my budget. Maybe when I get some $ from when my projects are completed, I'll buy the adults some killer houses. It seems like an appropriate think to do.-ha!

That reply was perfect, as I am in the same boat. I have all the cool projects I want. Many are not full grown yet so they're set up as best as I can provide for now. However I am hoping by next year I have many new cages with much more space for my snakes, as I feel it has many benefits and I enjoy them much more when I do not have to open a drawer to see them. You have some great stuff with a lot of potential, I bet you do just fine,
