One is better than none...PIC...

Matt J Jul 20, 2005 06:27 PM

Well, I really can't complain, since the het x het odds worked out just about perfect. I would really have liked to see 4 albinos and one possible het, but as the subject states..."One is better than none!" Maybe next season will be a little more productive!

Hope everyone hatches nice healthy babies this season! I'm happy so far...

Matt
p.s. - Follow the link for an interesting looking pic of a couple Borneo's I hatched this season (I actually hatched 6 out of 21 eggs that look like the babies in the pic but they are not as 'dramatic' as these two). Genetic? Time will tell! I think it will be.

Hey Ken,

>>At least you proved them out!

Actually, this is a proven adult pair obtained from a good friend. In the past, he had a clutches of:

4 eggs = 2 albino, 2 possible hets
5 eggs = 3 albino (one paradox), 2 possible hets
4 eggs = 2 albino, 2 possible hets.

Talk about beating the odds!

So, I was hoping to have the same luck my friend did with them, but to no avail. Maybe next season he will pass that luck onto them again! Either way, it's all good.

I bet that was a happy sight to see when you were slitting those eggies open!! Like you said, 1 is better then none and it's nice looking...Congrats!! You really never know what you are going to get with het. x het. breedings...Nothing better than being on the edge of your seat!!

biting my nails! I never slit eggs until the first one pips. Then, I make a TINY "V" cut just to see what's going on. I'm happy even seeing just the one! Glad I held back so many het females from last seasons production... I hope to see lots in the next couple of years if all goes well!

Great attitude, man. Plus, if I were you I'm not sure I wouldn't be a little more excited about those Borneos! Wow! I've got my fingers crossed for you that they are genetic...what are the sexes of the "abberant" babies?

>>Great attitude, man.

Hey, this is ALL for fun with me (I work full time as a Chemist). So, this is really just for kicks (and more critters of course!)

> Plus, if I were you I'm not sure I wouldn't be a little more excited about those Borneos! Wow! I've got my fingers crossed for you that they are genetic...

Trust me, I could barely sleep that night! When another one came out of the egg.... then ANOTHER I was like HOLY ____, well, you get the point. I think I did the 'Borneo Bizarre Baby Dance' around the house more than a few times while my wife was wondering what the phone number to have me taken away was! Hahaha...

>what are the sexes of the "abberant" babies?

Unsure. I want them all feeding strong before I REALLY upset them. Bloods are always 'tough' to sex and I want them feeding well before I take on that task. You can bet that most (if not all that look the same) will be held back to determine the end result. Someone who knows a great deal about 'Bloods' thinks it's likely genetic and you can bet I'm going to do my best to determine that.

Thanks for the input!

Matt...is that you? The one I miss running into in Publix to talk Ball Pythons??? Well, if so, I will look forward to seeing you at the Expo and I offer you my congrats on the ONE albino! My het x hets will hatch in a few days and I am also hoping for at least three out of the five eggs that I have. Will let you know! Below is the gem I aquired this year!

Very cool Matt. I wish they were all Albinos for ya bud, but I am sure it was a rush seeing that bad boy in the egg. Take care

by the way my big male het is up too 700 grams and the larger female hit 600

Matt J Jul 21, 2005 04:11 PM

Man, those hets you have will be adults in about two more months at this rate!!! Hahaha... nice work. I'm happy. I think the final ratio is 0.1 albino and 1.3 possible hets. I'll check them in a few days.

Matt out

D'oh! Well, I'm sure you have more of those eggs and the odds will get better! My albino male just was a flake this season, so it was ALL up to the BIG pair of hets and they did it!

>>Those 2 Borneos are COOOOOL!!! Keep me posted on that project PLEASE! I love em!

Maybe we can work out a trade for something I could use... Hehehehe... You never know!

>>Good luck with everything else... see ya in DAYTONA!

Many thanks, Sean! Same to you man and we'll see you there.

there is nothing like hatching albinos. Those borneos are pretty! Nice job.

Thanks, Joe! Yeah, I'm happy overall. Next season I hope to have a little more luck producing albinos. I took Sean Bradleys advice and held back het females each season... Good move!

Also, the Borneo's are a real shocker since I expected all 'normal' looking offspring. Well, these REALLY don't fit the norm!

Thanks, again!
