Koolaid

lovemybeardies Jul 20, 2005 06:46 PM

O.K. this is going to be a really dumb post but here goes. Someone who has a BD tried to tell my brother that breeders give their babys koolaid to get more color. I am pretty sure this is complete BS. But just in case I thought I would ask. Anyone else ever heard of this? Thanks, Cara

Sounds like utter BS to me, but you never know. NEVER try it if your not sure of the results though, I doubt I would give it to Athena either way though.

Trying it never even crossed my mind. I could not imagine good results coming from doing that to your beardie.I was just wondering if anyone else ever heard of it. All my babies that had color as babies have more color now and I never gave them koolaid. Just stupid people out there w/ stupid ideas. Cara

Thats absolutly ridiculous! Do you get more color when you drink koolaid?
Also, if you used sweetened koolaid it could even be dangerous.

BUT.... Staining the outsides of them, theur scales and such with koolaid, food coloring, or other substances is not unheard of. It is a sad thing, and very rarely happes but ut does. Usually people just change the colors using a photo editor.

Also, many of those AWFUL reptile sands that are colored will stain a dragons bellies and feet. You will often see that with the petco/petsmart dragons. Their feet will be bright purple or orange from calcisand.

Just let him get some natural sunlight. It does wonders for their colors. Someone is just pulling your leg about giving them koolaide. It might dye their tongue red! LOL Don't give them any it is high in sugar and could make them sick.
This is Cayenne. No koolaide here.

Actually last year someone soaked a ball python in red koolaid, and put it up for sale as a possible new morph. Of course this scammer was nailed LOL I don't think that drinking koolaid would do anything, but soaking the reptile in it would dye it the color of the drink. With dragons this would be very very noticeable as the beardies belly are white to off white sometimes with a little color pigmentation, but never fully colored pink, red, green, blue LOL.. Ask for pictures, ask for references from past buyers, and buy from known breeders who produce dragons of equal color without the use of koolaid
