Because Nobody knows more about cleaning cages than you guys.

I have been keeping some snakes for a local nature center while they rebuild for a while now in a rack at my house. I of course quarantined them for a long time before letting them near my animals.

I am looking forward to them leaving soon (I hope)and I was wondering how you might reccomend I clean the roof of the slots they were in, in my plastic AP rack. After reading some of your threads on Crypto (which leave me itching all over after I read them)I would like to feel completely fine about putting my own pride and joys in those slots eventually. I vaugely remember something about Amonnia for 30 mins.? If so, How would I do that?

I would recommend spraying it with chlorhexidine solution. This stuff is great. I bought a gallon of it last year from valley vet supply for like $20. A teaspoon I believe makes a gallon of solution. Great investment!

I would also get a steam cleaner and go over the shelves. I got a great conair steamer from WALMART for $20-30.

chlorhexidine is good, and I'd use the C.acetate over the C. gluconate.

Although a bit more fumy (is that a word?) quatuanary ammonia products are probably the most effective. Quatsyl-D can be obtained from most vet clinics if you ask for it.

How long of a duration must it be held in an area to be sure to eradicate Crypto? Can I assume if it kills Crypto it would saitiize everything? Thanks.
