New bearded dragon

niki_athena Jul 21, 2005 11:45 AM

Here is my new bearded dragon. I don't know what kind he is, but he is 1 1/2 years old ( unknown baby age at pet store). His tank is 4x2x1'6''(ht), with a basking light and UVB light. He is okay to be handled, but unlike my collared lizards when he's squirmy those scales and claws can be quite sharp.

I still wouldn't know if it is like yours because this is the first photo of him, and different photos would show the colors in a different light. Maybe tomorrow I should take a photo of him outside.

He was free, parent's kid lost interest and left them with the responsibility. They were happy to get him off their hands to someone who likes lizards.

The parents obviously did their homework on its care, but its tank for the moment lacks a hide spot and cool places to crawl up.

That is a beautiful dragon! I finally invested in some reptile nail clippers and it really helps with those sharp claws.

he is a real cutie! You can just use regular human nail clippers and snip the tips of the nails of your dragon. I do it with mine pretty frequently, just dont cut the thicker fleshy looking part and you shouldnt have any problems. If you do happen to cut to far and he starts to bleed, apply a little corn starch to the nail.
