just got a vieled chameleon, strange habits

dumbkid Jul 16, 2003 12:01 AM

i just got a 6 month-old vieled. it usually has dark coloration. is that a sign of stress, or unhealtiness? i could also use some tips on how to take care of it. i had a chameleon when i was younger, and i handled it frequently. i got it from birth, and it seemed to like me holding it. it grew a little bit, and at 6 months, it wasnt regular size for that age. at 8 months it died from worms. i took it outside twice, and let it hang out in a small tree. that might of been where he got worms, but not likely. let me know what i could do to fully extend his life to a ripe old age. thank you.

...why didn't you find out how to care for it BEFORE you got it??? They are pretty high maintenance animals. For care info READ (and I mean actually read them!) profile on Veiled at adcahm, care sheet from Kammerflage Kreations and many health and other articles on Chameleons e-zine. here are the sites:

http://www.calumma.com/Chameleon%20Care.htm

I suggest bookmarking these sites and referring to them often. THEN if you have more questions (and I am sure you will...we all do ) ask on this forum. Some of the best advice and folks who really care about their companions.

keep us posted!
