screen cages

iso Jul 21, 2005 05:11 PM

I have some screen cages (the ones from scales or LLL that are used for chams) and was wondering if those would be ok as an outside sun cage. Just lay the cage on its side..lots of room to walk around and easy to create hidingin areas.

No critters can get in...but i was curious how the dragons would do with the screen? Would thier little nails get caught up in it? I figured I would already use a liner on the floor, but i was worried the screen might hurt them if they climbed the side(s)

thank you all

I would think it would be ok. I was actually thinking of doing that for my dragon as well.

If you provide a couple of branches to bask on then you shouldnt have to worry about them climbing the screen.

As always, make sure that half of the cage is always in the shade so they can escape the sun if they want and keep a close eye on them

I would think that they would be fine. I have seen a few breeders using screen cages for their babies outside. Just watch to see what happens and be able to help if your dragon gets its claws stuck.

be careful... the reptariums only last so long if you feed crix in them. The crix will chew through the screen. Otherwise they are fine. I made mine from aluminum screening.

I actually use these cages for my juvenile beardies full time. A breeder at a show recommended them for outdoor cages, but I have been using them full time for a few months with no problems. The beardies do climb the sides sometimes, but have had no problems with getting stuck.
