If I am wrong, disregard, but that photo looks like the substrate is cedar chips.
If so, you may want to read more about cedar & pine chips.

Well cedar and pine as well as any cleaning products with "sol" in their name can be harmful to your snake. People like to argue that pine is not a problem but why chance it. Basically your snake has one working lung and filling a cage with any vapors is bad when you have one lung. Long term it can kill them or at the very least cause respitory problems.

Yeah, that's what I was gonna say.It looked like Fir tree bark to me. I have the same type of stuff in my snakes house(well, about a third of it anyway. The rest is comprised of Aspen tree shavings. She loves that stuff, a little too much I think. She's ALWAYS under it and almost never comes out to play. Although last night, she was pretty active.)
