How to start on alfalfa hay

ghettozoohouse Jul 21, 2005 07:22 PM

My leopards won't eat it. I tried mixing fresh greens in with it and they pick it out and leave the hay.

Is there a good way to soften up the hay?

Try cutting it up into smaller pieces around the size of the animals mouth and than mix it in. I've heard of people soaking it in water but I don't because it tends to get moldy if you don't take it out soon.

I chop it with a chopper and sprinkle the chopped hay over mixed veggies or fruit.
