Desert Iguana Eating Habits

maye7 Jul 16, 2003 12:10 AM

ANearly 4 months ago, I obtained a Desert Iguana near my home. I've kept it in a good size tank and layered it with gravel-like sand and a rock with water in it. I have put some vegetable and plant like substances in to keep the iguana healthy. I have noticed that he doesn't really eat it, but he seams to perfectly fine, except It looks like he has gotten quite skinnier, nothing drastic though.

Are there certain things I can buy or actually find (plants, insects, veggies) that it would possibly eat? I'm not really sure what to feed it. Any help would be appreciated.

The following two sites had dietary info on desert iguanas:

Good information on those sites. Does anybody here have an personal experience with a desert iguana? It was out of the mojave near my uncles. It's in pretty good shape. Now that our snake is being quarantined we are planning to take much better care for it.
