Herping the Dominican?

discus Jul 16, 2003 12:36 AM

Hello all,
I am planning my honeymoon in the Dominican Republic. My fiancee and I want to spent half the time on the beach and the other half searching for herps. I can't find any info on reptilian fauna in the Dominican, so if anyone can offer any firsthand expertise or point me to a website or book with this information that would be very helpful. We're most interested in looking for snakes. Thanks for any help

Wesley

Where abouts are you staying?

We'll be spending the trip in Punta Cana. That's the resort area. I don't expect to find much there so, we plan on doing alot of traveling inland. One place we've been told we have to visit is Manita Park, apparently there is alot of wildlife there, but probably mainly marinelife. We want to find and photo some snakes but don't know what kind are there or where to look. Any suggestions?
