Some Retics have a bad habit of rubbing their faces on screen covers,I wouldn't reccomend using them!You would be better off buying or making a cage(it's not as hard as it seems!).If you have to use a screen cover,I would cover the inside w/plastic wrap or plexi glass....something to reduce the sharp edges your snake can rub it's nose on. As far as keeping the top secure,2 cage clips(usually located in the small animal section of pet stores) on each end should be enough to keep all but the most determined Retic in. Hope this helps.
Thanks ill definitely try that does anyone have blue prints or a drawn plan for an enclosure for a 4-5 ft retic? Thanks =)
Personally I wouldn't bother trying to build a cage for a retic. I have bred retics for years, and I use neo decsh and visions. I don't personally like visions, but any durable plastic cage with glass doors are better. Remember they are light weight easy to manage. Only, get ones that are stackable if you plan to breed them.

I just made a nice 4' enclosure for my tiger retic and....it's is as hard as it seems. First you have to get some water resistant material...then make sure all the sides are cut even...liquid nails and screw together...heating...lighting holes..router work...caulking...yeah it's not that hard if you put them in an off square box that you nailed together i guess.
for a person named "retic kid" i dont think he'd be good with a circular sar or a router or have ever doen any fabrication work... ;
consider using the decorative punched aluminum for ventilation. You can buy sheets of it in Home Depot. It lets some light through (but not as much as screen will) and also allows air circulation.
One side is smoother than the other, so be sure to put the smooth side towards your animal. I have used it for years on many kinds of herps (indluding a retic) without rubbing problems. It is kind of expensive, but lasts forever.
