How do I know when my kingsnake is ready to switch over from a mouse to a rat?

Seriously it depends if you are talking about the SIZE of the rat or whether it is palataple to the snake.

There are many size descriptions for rats. I order rat pups which are a little bigger than jumbo mice. But you can get rat pinks ect that are for small colubrids in the 3 month - 6 month size limit.Will give them a power feeding boost.

My take on it is unless the snake is getting to big for large mice OR if the snake does not want to eat mice then try rats.
