Anery Anaconda

Ben_Renick Jul 22, 2005 11:49 AM

Well, my deal came through and well, I'm speechless to this snake. I got the Anery Green Anaconda I mentioned in the last post of mine. The snake itself if stunning, and I couldn't believe it, but it's tame, even after being shipped, not one snap. It did open its mouth and try to latch on one time that way, but that still counts as tame to me! It is very small though, I was thinking about putting it in my 4' cage, but I'm really worried about stressing it out, think I should keep it in a little bit smaller for awhile? The 4' has a humidity hut and a waterbowl in it. Think he will be alright, or think I should move him into smaller? I'm praying he will feed, he is to the point of tame that it makes me worried about feeding repsonse. The guy said he was feeding fine, and he actually took a frozen, but I'm thinking he might be too young for frozen and I might want to try a live? I'm pretty sure I know all of this information already, I'm just really excitied and I want to be 1000% sure, because this snake is not going to be lost in my hands, lol! Anyways, how about the pics now. by the way, sorry about him with the papershreds, I couldn't get them off of him.

Hey what do you mean "anery"? Is that have to do with its gray color? Its pretty sweet looking. Yah mine was real tame when I got it too. It took me 2.5 months to finally get it eating. Hopefully yours will sooner. Good luck. Beautiful snake!

Yes, Anery is for the silver coloration of the snake, it should get a lot more light with every shed too. I'm pretty sure it will eat, I know about 1000 tricks for it, but it was garenteed to eat for me, so I'm pretty sure it will. I don't know if it's going to stay that tame either, once it gets settled in, the temper might come right with it.

Pretty cool! Where did you get it and about what did you pay for it. If you dont mind me asking? Good luck. Once again, Sweeeeeet Snake!

Well of course it's a fresh import, I bought it from a private party. I paid handsomly, lol, $1500, and a deal made out with him that if I have a successful breeding of my hybrid he is guarenteed a pair, and if I breed the Anery he is guarenteed a pair. I know, it's a very unfair thing, because if you think about it, that's worth well over 10 grand for everything, but it's the snakes I care about, not the money, and as long as the snake is going to a good home, then it's good with me. I will deffidently continue to post pics of him.

My anaconda was a similar size and had a similar disposition a year ago when I got him. I was worried about his feeding response after he refused live mice, but to my surprise he accepted f/t mice immediately. I think he would be fine to start on pre-killed mice. Also, congrats on getting an anery, It looks awesome.

Congrats, Ben!! Pretty anery green. Price wise and deals, sounds like you made a deal with the devil, LOL. But I agree, money doesn't matter as long as you give the care and attention it will need. Oh, and your are definately gonna have to keep showing us pics as it matures

Thanks for the comments! Yes, I'm really hoping it will take f/t, I tried yesterday and no luck, but it looked very interested, just no snap, so I'm pretty sure I can get it to eat without a problem. Since I just got it 2 days ago, it could be stressed still. And yes, it's a very large deal, but it's alright.
