Turn off lights in that room, put mouse in smellable container, check every couple hours or put some flour on the floor by the doorways to "track" it. Caught my bullsnake when he was young accidently on a mouse sticky pad. Vegetable oil got him off. Look carefully under and behind fridge, washing machine, dryer, under stove, and all dark closets. Listen at night for it knocking small objects over, set up obstacle course of empty soda cans along walls. That's all I got, oh yeah, water bowl in middle of floor in snake room. I would use a female to lure a male in season by putting cage on floor!

I put a mouse 3 times bigger than normal in a mouse cage with the bars. 2nd morning found my 18" Mex black in cage sans mouse. The cage was too small for him to get back out after consuming large meal. Good luck. Dave.
LOL! That's a good one!

Yes, almost all herpers eventually have an escape. If yours is a good feeder, this may work. Take a 1.5 litre plastic pop bottle, cut the top 1/4 off, reverse it and reinsert it into the remaining 3/4 bottle, in a funnel shape. Place it in a quiet dark place(s) with a mouse or favored food item inside. The snake may go in, eat the mouse and just coil up for several hours inside. Also, you may just get lucky and catch it crawling when you least suspect. I had a L.t. andesiana escape for 18 months and found it in good health, basking in a sunny spot in a neighbors wood shed, 3 blocks away. You might make a flour barrier, so you can tell if the snake crawls though/over it.
1) Official literature says that your chances of retrieving a lost Kingsnake are about 50%. That is wrong.
2) I've lost many snakes in my home before, of various species. Almost always they were found. Average time is 2-8 weeks.
3) It's almost always pointless to look for your snake in the obvious places. It is not there, which is why it's lost.
4) It will be found when it is ready to be found. DO NOT place out any food or water for it! Doing so will likely prolong the time you wait for it. Let it get good & hungry, and thirsty. More incentive to crawl out in the open and begin hunting.
5) Have baseboard wall heaters? It's probably in one of them, and mabe in the wall behind it. Usually, walls are secure and have no outside outlet. Just wait patiently.
my snake room has a closet so a sweatshirt on the ground x mulch bag its easy just lift ocassionally. better than my outdoor shed THERE GONE.
