I bet you get bit alot lol....

Always hand feeding. I can barely hold the kings without getting nipped atleast once lol. If I fed them in my hand they would crazy for whatever moved and that would be my arm when I am trying to put them back in the enclosure lol...

Here's a nice jpg.... lol....

During my high school yrs i had about 12, musk turtles are my fav., common snaps are my 2nd.
But I never had the guts to feed my snappers by hand, lol.
great pic!

Turtles used to be my favorite. Not a big fan of them anymore, downsized my collection and only have 7 now.

Too much work with all the cleaning the tanks lol....

Those snappers ate from my hand all the time, I still have them, the one that was jumping out of the water to grab the mouse, lol, has probably tripled in size since the pic.

Suckers grow fast if you feed them all the time.

If you saw my post when that problem was around... I had 2 baby 04 cali kings that weren't eating very much at all. 1 was a female albino striped, and 1 was a female normal striped. I had the albino striper for a couple months, and she ate, just it seemed she was fixated with movement, which I cannot get live pinkies. I had the normal striper for I think 2 months and she had only eaten on 2 different occasions.

Well, after a while the albino striper wore out of that phase... and anytime I would drop a pinky in there she would catch it in almost mid-air and constrict it. Quite an appetite on her these days.

The normal striper, on the other hand, was a bit more picky. I offered her pinky mice in just about every way possible, she still didn't take. So, just to get some food in her, I threw her a 11" night snake. She grabbed it, constricted it, ate it. After about a week and a half, I threw her a 7" rough earth snake. She grabbed it, constricted it, and then I felt this definitely wasn't the way to go, so I took it away before she could hurt it. (Glad I did too, I ended up trading 2 rough earth snakes for 2 CB05 Scarlet Kings like 2 weeks later LOL)

After I saw that she liked the earth snakes, and after I took the one out of her enclosure, I thawed out a large pinky. Got a earth snake to crap on it's head, and I put it under the newspaper in her enclosure where she hides. About 2 minutes later she was eating it.

I've tried the scenting with every other "small snake" I have, she was only interested in the smell from the earth snakes.

She ate all the pinkies I offered that were scented from the rough earths. Then I had to send the earths away. She last ate on the 17th, I'm not sure what I'm going to offer her for her next meal.

I know the first on is a female, so what's the 2nd one? ... the first Cross looks liek it is from the correct lavender bloodline (Ricks) the 2nd one isn't showing any orange and the bands go too far down... so i think u got a Brooks/Cali on your hands... i guess breeding the two is the only way to determine if they are the same lavender gene...

you know the funny thing, before i understood kingsnake genetics i thought that the lavender albino brooks were the result of BrooksiXlavender Cali. i had a female brooks king at the time and i went out 2 purchase a lavender albino cali king (determined to make my own... since asking price was soooo much)... i couldn't kind one any where... i finally found some het lavender brooksi... ended up trading them (regret it)... and i got a "lavender brooksi" female... i then purchased a lavender male from Rainer and the two were Soooooooooo different... they had the same pattern but the lavender color was all wrong on the female... unfortunately i accidentally put her in an enclosure with a cali king and she was killed.

I almost purchased a Red-eyes snow brooksi once as well... it was a very nice snake, came from two 2x het snow parents... the axanthics looked "Normal," all the albinos had red eyes and the one snow male had red eyes as well... sadly the seller didn't change the add after i convinced him that the snakes genetics were tainted,

ok i'll shut up now!

The one above was sold to me as a "goini"-X-"brooksi" 0.1

the one below was sold to me as Lav."brooksi" 1.0

Wouldn't surprise me if the one below has some cali background.
I'm gonna hook up with the sellers for more info.

whatever they are the F1's they produce are gonna be just as strange, lol!

JETZEN Jul 24, 2005 05:53 PM

Those weren't exactly sold to me:

I gave two 02' pregnant corns and $40 for the "goini"X"brooksi" plus the seller kicked in a "speckled floridana"

And I traded a 0.1 adult caligaster and a 0.1 sub-adult tangerine hondo for the Lav."brooksi"
