Bone Aid Questions...

Doug89 Jul 23, 2005 12:11 AM

Hey guys, i got some bone aid for my snake (well i didnt get it my mom picked it up for me she thought it would be good for the snake) well anyway i was reading the package and it said it can be given as a calcium supplement for the animal as well as a substrate. Is this right and if so how do i give it to my snake and how much? Thanks!

i believe snakes get all they need from their prey item. you shouldn't have to give them supplements. i never give my snakes anything like that and they're fine.

Most snake keepers will agree. The only exception I have encountered is for Garter Snakes being fed a strict diet of earth worms. I would assume it might be beneficial for a cricket eater like the Green Snakes as well. Many lizard keepers use supplements and I use a bit for my few lizards and salamanders.
