Poop questions

bumble Jul 23, 2005 01:07 PM

My beardie (male, 14 months old) Lujan only poops about once a week, and when he does it is huge, quite solid with a small lime deposit, and some excess water. Is that normal, or should I get him checked out by a vet? He has no detectable hard lump in his bowels, and absolutely no other signs of compaction.

His food intake is healthy and he recieves all the required vits and minerals. His viv is equipped with new strong UVA & UVB lighting, and he has a thermostatically controlled viv with hot and cool areas. He is well hydrated. Hedoesn't appear to be in any kind of discomfort. Should I perhaps worm him? If so, what should I use - is Ivermectin OK?

That sounds pretty normal to me. You should not worm him without getting a fecal done first. The meds are too hard ont he system to be given without reason. Many dragons that were doing well despite parasites have stopped eating after being given meds and because lethargic. I wouldn't give them to a healthy animal with no proof or parasites.
