Scrawny little girl, problematic feeder Tom Stevens

This poor thing just won't grow. I get stuck with all the runts... Tom Stevens

lol. Damn those are some big yearlings! Have you got an exact(ish) measurment on how long they are?
They may be rivaling my bullsnake for size at one year
. She's right at 43" at one year old and taking down small rats.

The straight up Brooksi is 43-44 inches and the E/B is not far behind. I have a couple other big 04s, one is a Tangerine Albino Hondo that is 36 inches at a minimum. Hard to measure one of those squirmy fellas. Tom Stevens
Tom,
OK, how do you do it??? How much do you feed and how often??? If these two are problematic feeders then the ones I got from you a year ago are down right anorexic!!!! Give us the poop!!!
Pat
Howdy Pat, if they look interested in food,,,,I feed. I do not even keep notes with these anymore as it is just too easy. The greatest thing about them is they thin down so fast after feeding. A day or 2 of looking plump and then shortly after you can see they're ready for more. I have a Speck that ate fine since day one, but was not down with eating like a pig. She has some size on her now and looks like she WOULD indeed eat to the point of being plain ol fat. But, I give her a break now and then or also try a routine more like 1 or 2 mice every 2 or 3 days as opposed to the pile of mice I leave for my Brooksi. Most of my Kings eat tons of food and digest it quickly and as you can see show amazing growth. However my adults[over 2 years old] are different. The males seem to prefer larger sized rodents, and less of them, but the females are garbage disposals during breeding season. That really holds true for all my snakes including Corns, Milks and Pits. Wanna see a snake that can REALLY eat? Come watch my Womas or Spotted Pythons feed...it is unreal! Tom Stevens
Well, guys, I can honestly say the three I have from Tom are the best feeders I have...have never turned down a meal. They are '04s, are eating adult mice and are about 28" long. They are always hungry and have even eaten when ready to shed then shed right after their meal to make room for it...Tom just tells me, feed-feed-feed...Helane
If I remember correctly[which I usually don't LOL] you got 3 out of my last 6 from 04 Helane. Those were nice, and had size, but Pat got his when I had quite a few left and got some real good sized ones. The speed a King can grow depending on the amount of food taken in is astounding. My female Axanthic was pretty small and a bit of a problematic feeder[ no joke this time] and she is now catching up to her much larger mate. I still have a few months to see if she can be ready for 06. You never know with these Kings,,,,,they're amazing snakes Tom Stevens
Tom, you have some outstanding looking brooksi. I especially love that normal brooksi you posted a week or so ago that was het for nothing. Very nice bright yellow with black. To me that specimen in my eyes is a perfect normal brooks. Thanks for the pics.
steve
Thanks Steve, I love that snake too. I have another...and I am gonna try n get a decent pic of her and post it. Not quite as stunning, but very pretty. I intend to use both to make hets, but in 2 years or so I would like to make some normals het nothing if I find a nice enough male. My pics always lose a bit of the quality when I post them on here....I have no idea why? Thanks again Tom Stevens
