TWO QUESTIONS

iiilovetooibs Jul 23, 2005 04:15 PM

It is day 43 of my 100% Het. Albino eggs and I noticed about 3-4 days ago the eggs are caving in. I was not sure if that was normal and means that the eggs are going hatch soon or if it was a humidity issue.

Also I have been notcing that some of my questionable gravid females are huddling around the water dished as if they were incubating eggs. Is this something gravid females will do. They are also rolling on their sides a lot. Thanks for any info.

Joe

If the humidity seems low you may want to tweak it just a bit. The caving in at this late in the process is more likely just a sign that it's getting close to hatch time.

As far as the females huggin' the water bowls and and rolling over, I'd say you have more gravid than you thought!! Don't quote me, but it is a good sign. Good luck with all of them.

Eggs tend to begin to dimple about two weeks before hatching. That means yours are right on schedule.

Gravid girls sometimes coil around water bowls, as do those developing follicles. Usually they are trying to get their bellies a bit cooler. Even male snakes will do this to cool off at times.

Gravid girls (or sometimes just very full snakes) will also lay inverted.

Good luck!

Christy
