Hi, I've been looking into getting a snake for a few months now and I'm just looking into my options as far as good first snakes go. Anyway I looked at ball pythons,redtail boas,Duremil's(spelling) boas,Mexican boas, basiclly all the BCI boas, and I almost settled on buy a rainbow boa but the constant high humidity is putting me off a bit. I curently have a redfoot and russian tortoises and a bearded dragon. I recently developed an interest in Irian Jaya Carpet Pythons. I know that they are smaller then the normal jungle carpets and I was wondering if one would be a good beginner snake? Are they nippy? If I buy from a good breeder will it be tame before he sells it to me? Also any info you can give me(sites with care sheets,breeders,etc..)about them would be grealty appreciated. Thanks

this is the first time i've been on this forum but i saw ur post and i myself have a jungle carpet python. well yes i think they would make an exellent beginner snake. they are a little nippy whe little but they grow out of this. my snake is 2 feet long(still little) and is only cage agressive so when i get him out hes fine. he was a lot worse though. you should try lllreptile.com
they have some baby iran jaya and jungles.

My first python, back in the day, was an Irian Jaya. He's my buddy. I consider them a good starter snake for someone who doesn't want just a redtail or ball python.
