I beleive you can keep them refrigerated, or feed them sweetened bran flakes.

If I am not mistaken, Wax worms are HIGH in fat I believe, or maybe protein. Either way, silkies, superworms, mealworms, crickets, and roaches are a better way to go...

Waxworms are high in fat but i don't think that they are bad every now and then. i give my beardie some every couple of weeks and he is fine. I don't keep them in the fridge becasue the last lot i put in died i just keep them in the tub they came in or an old cricket tub and i just put any left over greens my lizard hasn't eaten in.

Mealworms I would say are worse that waxworms. Waxworms may be high in fat, but mealworms can be an impaction risk, and have pretty much no nutritional value so there's really no point. Superworms are better than mealworms nutrtionally, but have a hard chitin shell too so only for dragons 5 months and up.

I would say for staples: crickets, silkworms, and roaches. Maybe locusts if you live in the UK where they are available. Superworms and waxworms for the occasional treat, and mealworms not at all.
