Just wanted to share a pic and a project

jlassiter Jul 23, 2005 07:28 PM

I was taking new photos of my kings and like the way this one turned out.
This popped out of my Vivid line in 2002. She was not large enough to breed (by my standards) last year so she fed all winter up till the present.
I want to see what she produces next year.
She has very reduced black as well as her sibling sister. I am breeding a sibling male to the two females next year to see if I can get some with even more reduced black.
Thanks for looking,
John Lassiter

Michelle if you see this... post a good pic of that NO BLACK Thayeri you have. Or whoever else has some nice reduced black Thayeri. I would love to see some.

Here is a recent pic of the other female from my Vivid line that definitely has some reduced black. I like the light circles around her Mole king like saddles. I believe that is the area where the black should be.....Just an opinion.
Enjoy the pic and thanks for looking.

And the male sibling to both reduced black females.
I like the sunburst saddles on him...Would be great if he could pass that on to some more reduced black offspring. We shall see next year....I hope.
Thanks for looking again,
John Lassiter

Sorry....I guess I coulda posted these all in one post...OOPS

Here's my only current reduced black thayeri. I'm working on a deal right now for a couple more. I'll post pics when I get them.

This one is From Chris & Mike Bodner. She probably won't be ready to breed until 2007.

I like those two females you posted John, especially the first one. Can't wait to see what they produce next year. I think Uncloudy Chris is right about breeding to produce specific results. That's how we got the Vivid line.

Very cool John.
I hope you get the reduced black offspring you desire and considering some of the somewhat homogenous thayeri offspring we've seen in this forum thus far it's not far fetched at all to know there is good change to get all reduced black babies.
Nice pics,
Uncloudy

I hope you are right Chris, but the cool thing about thayeri is...You never really know exactly what will hatch.

BTW....my Thayeri eggs clutch #1 are at 57 days today...
All my Getula (Splendida/Holbrooki) hatched at 57 days in the same incubator at the same temps........

Just a reminder...I am waiting on the eggs from this pairing.

Can't wait to see those John.
I was going to post a topic on this earlier. I haven't been around mexicana very long, but my impression is over the last 10-15 years thayeri breeders have been having some success with breeding for specific color variations/traits they find most desirable. Some of what we've seen of cluth baby pics in this forum are proof of that. It will be amazing in the future with the variable genes the different types of traits that could be line bred to produce a desired look or pattern.

Hi John

Nice female. I'm sure she'll give you a nice sized clutch next season. Here's my reduced black male that is trying to get some action from my light colored thick bordered female earlier in this year. I was using him and my milksnake male for breeding this year but looking at what the female produced, it's more likely that he is not the sire. I did like thier yin-yan look to this pairing. This pairing did produce the female in '02 and she produced the first clucth that I showed pics of. He most likely fathered those nice orange babies also so he is well represented in my collection. Btw, isn't it exciting!? You're about a week from hatching time for your thayeri. We'll be expecting pics from you in about a week or so, hehe.
