thoughts about bathing

Herpy_Momma Jul 23, 2005 08:30 PM

ok this might be a stupid question but how do you guys feel about washing your snake, ei giving them a bath? sometimes mine smells and i dont know if its from the food digesting like a fart or what but i rinse mine off with water only first and if that doesnt work i use hand soap and water but none around her head. do you think its harmful and if so what else do you suggest?

It might be that it moved though some of it's own waste, or still has some on it's vent. Is the cage nice and clean?

As long as you're using a natural type soap and wash it all off, I don't see any real harm in it. If the smell persists, even after a shedding, it might be something else. Is s/he behaving normally in all other ways?

she is acting normally and i try to keep the cage clean but sometimes poop hides. but i mostly smell it on her body usually the furthest away from her back end. i normally use an antibacterial soap.

I normally bathe for the following reasons:

1) After egg laying.
2) If they roll around in their waste. Believe it or not, some do.

And I normally just use plain water.
