Try just handling him in your lap when your sitting down and such. If hes still restless then, put a towl over him or something so he feels safe. More or less hes probably worried about getting eaten when your handling him and wants to hide. You just need to re iterate that hes in a safe enviornment.

You might want to check your cage temps. I've noticed my borneos get kind of restless if they are warmer than they prefer to be.

Hey,

Handsome boy you have there!
I have a male blood how looks to be about that size and everytime I try to hold him like you are in that picture, he starts wiggling around. I think its just because they get freaked out by the way we try to hold them. They're not like boas...they don't seem to understand the concept or be even physically capable of securing themselves on to you (by say wrapping their lower body around your arm). I think once they get to that adult size they just don't feel as though they are being supported, and therefore want down Once I sit down with my big guy, he is usually quite content to just lay there...all squirminess gone!
Just my opinion, they don't like being off the ground. Would love to see more pictures of that guy! Have a good one!

i have a coastal carpet that does the same thing. i dont get her out very much but she squirms and is very excitable when i do get her out. why do i think this is? probably because she is happy to be out of her tank! snakes are very inquisitive creatures and they love to see whats going on in the "outside world". id take him out more often than you have been and if possible let him roam around (under supervision, of course) outside or in an emptied out spare room. let him get some exercise. i try to get my carpet out at least once a week or every 10 days and after i do she does NOT want to go back into the tank. nice black, btw.
