update on possible gravid panther

dan-binderup Jul 24, 2005 02:58 PM

Hey. I have a question concerning my panther female. she has become very inactive, she sits near the uv.light almoste all day, she will not move to eat, she will eat silkworm and superworms if put within her grasp! is this "normal" gravid behaivor? she still have her gravid colors on, it is about three weeks since copulation.
hope to hear lots of answers!
heres an updated pic. of her, sorry for the poor pic.
best Regards

It doesn't look like she's ready to lay eggs yet. Watch for dehydration. I know that my fem v. cham eats proportionately less as she gets bigger and bigger, the week before she deposits her eggs for me she hardly eats at all. Also throughout that week she will dig around the bottom of her cage getting ready or 'nesting'. However as she starts to get bigger but is not ready to lay she does rest more.
