We're building a new rack system for some ball pythons, and I wanted to use heat cord instead of tape. I've heard a few good things about Big Apples stuff, but that cord looks pretty small.

My question is do you think in a room that's about 70 degrees that cord could heat up the rack enough for ball pythons? That's a pretty big difference in temps. The cord would be controlled with our helix unit.

Anyone? Or if anyone else knows of another heat cord product that works well. Someone told me heat cord from a plant store but I wasn't sure.

Thank you,
mandi

I have one large tank that I have struggled for years to keep the temps right in. Last year I bought some of the B.A. heat cord and ran it underneath the substrate and it works wonderfully! Unfortunately I have not used it in racks so I can't say for sure it work any better or worse than tape - we are planning on putting it in our next rack when the hubby gets around to building it because when I was researching buying a vision rack - I'd heard that the heat cord is a better option than the tape and thought it worth a try.

Anyway - hope this helps.

Heat cord is great!! I use it currently in my baby BP rack and it works excellant.

Instead of running it one time through the back do it twice. It will heat faster and create a more gradient temp for the snakes.

My new Vision Rack came with heat cable and wood panels to route the cable threw and it works great. I also used it in my hatchling racks last year and it worked fine.
